JoVia Armstrong & alana amore colvin + Nahtal

JoVia Armstrong and alana amore colvin (percussion and guitar) will perform as a duo.
JoVia Armstrong is a Detroit-born percussionist, composer, sound artist, and educator whose multidisciplinary career spans continents, genres, and communities. Known for her visionary blend of experimental composition, Black musical traditions, and immersive technologies, Armstrong’s artistry is rooted in rhythm and storytelling.

alana amore colvin (she/they) is a brooklyn based avant-garde guitarist, composer, and arranger. Their sound sits somewhere in the balance between soft intimate tones and raw distorted noise all in celebration of guitar and afro-folkloric traditions. They are compared to Bill Frisell as often as she is compared to Jimi Hendrix and yet something different all together.

Opening will be Nahtal (Lathan Hardy), a Brooklyn based project based on Instant Composition. “If time doesn’t, then everything is possible in the moment!” is the underlying philosophy of this site specific ensemble. Every time you come will be a completely different show, so enjoy in these times of rinse and repeat.

Doors 7:30 pm, show at 8 pm. $10-20 (cash, Venmo) at the door. BYO or sample what’s on hand.
