Aliya Ultan & Crowmeat Bob + Lathan Hardy + Glistening Green Drop
Aliya Ultan (cello/NYC) – Growing up in a car with her mother and sister, Aliya’s music is about escape, the process of remembering, and the act of being fully present.
Crowmeat Bob (reeds/Raleigh) composes for many different kinds of ensembles, and plays in many bands and in improvised or otherwise situations with hundreds of musicians over the years. Most importantly, he provided sax for the John Goodman man-scaping scene in “Righteous Gemstones.”
Lathan Hardy (sax) is a Brooklyn-based composer/sound designer specializing in woodwind and synthesizer performance. Hardy has performed all over the world as a soloist and with ensembles including Solange, Son Lux, Bill Lee, 10th Intervention, and Holy Hand Grenade. Allowing music to have its own rules per artistic relationship(s) or performance venue is the main concept that unites all of his works and collaborations. “Music is mainly listening” is one his favorite quotes. In his youth, he spent time studying classical & jazz music with such greats as Robert Mann (Julliard String Quartet), Max Roach, Donald Byrd, Robert Dick, Donald Sinta, & Douglas Buys (student of Nadia Boulanger).
