I See in Words presents “Breathless”

Poets writing through movies—it’s a thing!

At I SEE IN WORDS we screen a subtitled film and poets in the audience write poems in the dark, about the movie or off of lines as they appear onscreen. Then, after the movie, they’ll read a bit of what they wrote. And you can write and read too.!

Say it with me: “J’adore Jean Seberg.” This episode, we write through Jean-Luc Godard’s 1960 French New Wave classic Breathless. If you’re not in love with either Seberg or Jean-Paul Belmondo or both after this ultimate-hip tale of tragic love, then check your pulse. The stars shine, the script is a poetic delight, and PARIS IN THE 60s I mean come on. Come watch, write, swoon, and read with us!

“I See In Words” is organized by Durham Poet Laureate and Poetry Fox, Chris Vitiello, who takes notes in the dark all the time, even when it’s light out. The Durham Poet Laureate is a part of the City of Durham Cultural & Public Art Program.
