I See in Words presents “Red Desert”
Rescheduled due to snow & ice!
A new series blending poetry and film debuts!
Writing through movies—it’s a thing! In this new series, Durham Poet Laureate Chris Vitiello (aka The Poetry Fox) screens a classic film and poets in the audience will write poems in the dark throughout the movie. Then, after the movie, they’ll read a bit of what they wrote.
For this event series debut, we’ll screen Michelangelo Antonioni’s Red Desert (1964), a psychological drama featuring a breathtaking performance by Monica Vitti. It was Antonioni’s first color film and its stunning visuals find a space between concrete and abstract for the narrative to hover within.
FREE, donations appreciated. Doors 7:30 pm, movie at 8 pm. BYO or sample what’s on hand.
