Jon Mueller + Os + cenOte
Jon Mueller makes long-form, repetitive, and energetic percussion-based structures that grow and change based on the space they are presented in, often resulting in sheets of tone and the illusion of voices. His current performance combines the ghostly drift of his recent, critically acclaimed Family Secret, the physicality of earlier recordings Metals and Physical Changes, and the meditative hum of both Canto and House Blessing, bringing various frequencies, overtones, and pounded drums to maximum heights throughout the 40-minute exercise.
Os is Lynn Book, a transmedia artist whose adventurous work deploys extended voice, material practices, and technologies to make performance, video, text, new music, exhibition and collaborative culture projects. Double bassist, improviser and writer David Menestres joins Book in this dynamic duo.
cenOte is free improvisation by Greensboro’s Greg Hoffman and Gwen Young, who construct portals to the underworld using an array of implements, including but not limited to analog synths, prepared guitar, flutes, percussion, and electronics.
