Lud + Knockout Artist

Two great tasting Chapel Hill bands that taste great together!

Once described in a review as ‘the greatest band you’ll never hear,” Lud has continued to play/record/do their part for more than 30 years. They rarely play anywhere outside of the same clubs in Chapel Hill and Carrboro where they started. The two remaining founders, Bryon Settle and Kirk Ross, do guitar things. Bassist Sara Bell, who first recorded with Lud in 1996, joined full-time in 2009 followed by Tim Salemy, the newest member of the group, who is now in his 13th year on drums. Lud shows are a collection of loud and slow and fast with familiar and unknown themes, marked by erratic meandering between genres because who cares. Their latest collection is a rather angry set of songs recorded in 2024 called Music for Librarians. Last year, they also released Lud Country — Country & Folk Rock Favorites 1997-2020.
