This road-tripping drama was the first (and unfortunately, last) directorial effort from Joan Tewkesbury, writer of Nashville. She also co-wrote the script for Old Boyfriends with Paul Schrader and his brother, Leonard. The film holds the dubious distinction of being the only feature directed by a woman released in the United States in 1979.
