Movie Loft presents “Prime Cut”
The late Gene Hackman shines at this month’s Movie Loft!
Join Movie Loft for a screening of Prime Cut (1972), the second feature from director Michael Ritchie (Smile, Fletch) is a Midwestern action thriller drama gem with plenty of sordidness to spare. As the original tagline proclaimed, “The gangster film that’s a cut above”!
Gene Hackman co-stars as Mary Ann, a Kansas City rancher that has run afoul of the Chicago mob, who sends the enforcer Nick Devlin (Lee Marvin) to collect what is theirs. Sissy Spacek is also caught amidst the offal and unseemliness in her very first role, as Poppy.
