Movie Loft presents “Twister”

What, you didn’t know that Harry Dean Stanton, Crispin Glover, and William S. Burroughs are in Twister?

Movie Loft’s project for 2024, The Harry Dean Stanton Appreciation Society, barnstorms into July with the off kilter comedy Twister (1989), the feature-length debut from director Michael Almereyda (whose filmography with Ethan Hawke includes Hamlet, Cymbeline, and Tesla). Based on the novel Oh! by Mary Robison, this Kansan yarn tells of the Cleveland family, an eccentric bunch whose relationships and idiosyncrasies play out while a tornado bears down.

Harry Dean plays Eugene Cleveland, the head of the family and a retired soda-pop and mini-golf tycoon. Also caught up in the whirlwind are Suzy Amis, Crispin Glover, Charlayne Woodard, Dylan McDermott, Tim Robbins, and yes, why not, William S. Burroughs!
