Paradiso 20: Book Party for Jeff Russell’s By the Time This Reaches You

Jeff Russell is a poet living in Durham, North Carolina. He studied Creative Writing at the University of Arizona and Classical Chinese Literature at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. By The Time This Reaches You is Jeff’s first book of poetry. Selections of this work have been published in Miracle Monocle, Entropy, Titled House, Dream Pop, and Denver Quarterly—FiVES. He is on the advisory board for Jackleg Press. Multi-voiced recordings of this work are available at jeffwrussell.bandcamp.com.

Chris Tonelli is a co-founder of the independent poetry press Birds, LLC. He is the author of five chapbooks and two full-length poetry collections, most recently Whatever Stasis from Barrelhouse Books. He works in the Libraries at NC State University and is co-owner of So & So Books in Raleigh, NC where he lives with his wife Allison and their kids Miles and Vera.

Kenneth Stewart, a Durham, N.C.-based guitarist/cellist, conductor and composer considers music to be his life’s work. Kenneth is passionate about collaborations focussed on wedding disparate artistic and musical disciplines, and teaches accordingly. Ken has coached bands, independent musicians, teachers and artists for nearly 20 years. He holds a master’s from Rice University and a PhD from Rice and Duke, both in music composition. Currently Ken’s hellbent on sharing the tools and resources for creative musical development he acquired in the academy with those outside the scope of the university setting.

Nora Zubizarreta is a filmmaker and photographer based in Durham, NC. Her filmmaking and photography practice is rooted in analogue techniques and her work is haunted by ideas of our natural environments and how we interact with them. She received her BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and her MFA in experimental and documentary arts from Duke University. When she’s not preoccupied with filming or photographing, you might find her on a trapeze.
