TONGUE DEPRESSOR + Nathan Bowles + Doris Dana + Gray Spiral
An evening of electro-acoustic performance!
Tongue Depressor, on tour from New Haven CT: A contemporary favorite: constantly shifting, long form, microtonal drone explorations, verging on minimalist modern classical idioms with teeth, from a couple of the sweetest road dogs I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Those who remember their unamplified contra bass and bagpipe set at LUMP gallery last October will tell you this is not to be missed.
Nathan Bowles (The Nathan Bowles Trio, Setting, Pelt, et al): the maestro, local stalwart, performing a rare solo set of undetermined origins. We’re ready to expand the territory, before we burn the map.
Doris Dana (member of Bad LSD Trips, check out their latest LP “Ultrafest” on @enmossed): gauze and styrofoam, vocal-centric illbient. We dive headfirst into the amorphous, glowing, sublimated gas.
Gray Spiral (MARV, N bath, Sponge Bath, et al): softer recordings label head debuts a new moniker for perhaps the only (?) time. Let’s see if this one sticks to the wall. A further distillation of the studio’s ceiling fan recorded to tape and processed into other aural forms.
$10 at the door (cash/Venmo). Doors 7 pm, performances will begin at 7:30 sharp. BYO or sample what’s on hand.
