Matchess + Lia Kohl + Nathan Taylor/Softer

From out of the wilds of Chicago and the Drag City musical universe comes Whitney Johnson, who as Matchess travels between musical inner and outer space on the reg.

Joining Whitney on this leg of the tour is Chicago cellist, composer, and sound artist Lia Kohl, whose extended techniques and experimentation explores sound as an ecology.

Lia and Whitney also make music together.

Opening the evening is Softer, the new solo project of Carrboro’s Nathan Taylor. Taylor has previously performed as N Bath, Sponge Bath, and as one half of the duo MARV.  Active in the North Carolina underground since 2010, he employs techniques associated with the traditions of tape music, dub, sound design, noise, dance, and electro-acoustic improvisation.
